TrumpRx vs Telehealth for GLP-1s: Which Is Cheaper?

Is TrumpRx cheaper than telehealth for Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo? The drug price is mostly the same. Here is what the prescriber adds per month.

RxPickr Editorial Team

If you're comparing TrumpRx vs telehealth for Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo, the short answer is that the drug costs about the same either way. TrumpRx lists the manufacturer self-pay prices that Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly already charge through NovoCare and LillyDirect (TrumpRx), and most brand-name telehealth programs pass those same prices through, based on each provider's published pricing as of October 2026 (see the table below). So the real question behind "is TrumpRx cheaper" is a different one: how will you get the prescription, and what does that add to your monthly bill?

TrumpRx doesn't come with a doctor. If your own clinician will prescribe a GLP-1 and manage your dose, the TrumpRx route can save you a telehealth membership, typically $74 to $149 a month in our comparison. If they won't, a telehealth program is often the most practical way to get the prescription in the first place.

Last verified: October 21, 2026 by RxPickr Editorial Team. We read the TrumpRx product pages in a browser on that date; telehealth prices come from each provider's own pages in our October 2026 pricing refresh (PlushCare's Zepbound figure is carried from May and the Hers vial from September). Prices may change, so confirm at checkout. Our methodology is at How we rate providers.

Question 1 of 10

Do you have insurance that may cover GLP-1 medications?

Free, about a minute. Your answers stay in your browser.

The quick answer

  • Same drug price. TrumpRx's GLP-1 prices match the manufacturers' own self-pay programs. At the starting dose, that's $149/mo for the Wegovy pill and $299/mo for Zepbound vials, as of October 2026.
  • Different prescriber cost. TrumpRx plus your own doctor adds only whatever your office visits cost. A telehealth program adds a monthly membership on top of the same drug price.
  • Telehealth wins when you don't have a doctor willing to prescribe, you want structured dose follow-ups, or you want help with insurance.
  • Check your insurance first. TrumpRx is cash-pay only. A covered copay may beat any price on this page.

What TrumpRx is (and isn't)

TrumpRx (trumprx.gov) is a free federal website that lists manufacturer self-pay (cash) prices for certain brand-name drugs. Its FAQ says it "displays discounted drug pricing offers but does not sell or dispense drugs." You don't need an account or registration to use it (TrumpRx FAQ).

Here's what that means in practice:

  • It isn't a pharmacy. Nothing ships from TrumpRx.
  • It isn't a prescriber. You still need a valid prescription, and the site tells visitors to speak with their doctor about whether a drug is right for them.
  • It doesn't handle prescriptions. TrumpRx says prescriptions do not need to be sent to it. Your clinician sends the prescription to the pharmacy where the listed price applies. It makes no difference whether that prescription comes from a telehealth provider or a local doctor.
  • It's cash-pay only. You can't run these prices through insurance.

Its FAQ states that all drugs listed are FDA-approved (TrumpRx FAQ). As of October 21, 2026, the homepage lists four GLP-1 deals: the Wegovy pill at $149/mo, the Wegovy pen at $199/mo, Ozempic at $199/mo and Zepbound at $299/mo, each shown alongside a listed "original" price (TrumpRx). Foundayo, Lilly's oral GLP-1, has its own page with an original price of $649 (TrumpRx Foundayo).

One caution on Ozempic. It's FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, not weight management, so prescribing it for weight loss is off-label (Ozempic prescribing information). For weight loss, Wegovy contains the same active ingredient and carries the weight-management approval (Wegovy prescribing information).

How buying through TrumpRx actually works

TrumpRx sends you down one of two paths, depending on the manufacturer.

Novo Nordisk: a coupon at your pharmacy

For the Wegovy pen, Wegovy pill and Ozempic, TrumpRx gives you a coupon to "present at your pharmacy," and TrumpRx says the coupon is widely supported at retail pharmacies (TrumpRx Wegovy). Call your pharmacy to confirm before the prescription is sent. Your doctor sends the prescription to a local pharmacy, and you show the coupon when you pay.

The coupon terms matter. You must be a US resident aged 18 or older, paying cash, with a valid prescription. If you have Medicare, Part D, Medicare Advantage, VA, DOD, TRICARE, Medicaid or any other payer, you must not seek reimbursement, and the amount you pay can't count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket limit (TrumpRx Wegovy). The Wegovy pill offer adds a flat line: "Government beneficiaries excluded" (TrumpRx Wegovy pill).

The $199 pen headline is an intro price. New patients pay $199 for the first two monthly fills of the 0.25mg and 0.5mg doses (offer window through December 31, 2026). After that, the Wegovy pen is $349/mo for 0.25mg through 2.4mg and $399/mo for Wegovy HD 7.2mg (TrumpRx Wegovy). Ozempic follows the same pattern: $199 for two intro fills, then $349/mo for 0.25mg to 1mg and $499/mo for 2mg (TrumpRx Ozempic).

Eli Lilly: a link to LillyDirect

For Zepbound and Foundayo, TrumpRx links out. Its Zepbound page says "Eli Lilly and Company manages all Zepbound (Tirzepatide) Vial orders through LillyDirect" (TrumpRx Zepbound). Note the format: the TrumpRx Zepbound price is for the single-dose vial, which you draw up with a syringe, not the KwikPen.

For Foundayo, LillyDirect "will guide you to savings options, eligibility confirmation, and offers delivery options or transfer to a retail pharmacy of your choosing" (TrumpRx Foundayo). For Zepbound vials, your prescriber sends the prescription to LillyDirect's pharmacy partner; for Foundayo, LillyDirect can ship it or transfer it to a retail pharmacy. Either way you pay Lilly's self-pay price (LillyDirect).

Price comparison: same drug, different prescriber cost

The table below shows the all-in monthly cost at each drug's starting dose: medication plus any required membership. First-month membership promos are left out. The "own doctor" row has no membership, but you still pay for whatever visits your doctor requires, which may be a copay if your insurance covers the visit even when it doesn't cover the drug.

PathWegovy pill (1.5mg)Zepbound (2.5mg)Foundayo (0.8mg)Monthly membership
TrumpRx price + your own doctor (NovoCare / LillyDirect)$149$299$149None (visit costs vary)
Mochi Health$228$378Not confirmed$79 ($0 first month on the monthly plan)
Shed$274$474$274$125
Ro$298$448$298$149 month to month; $74 on 12-month prepay
Hims$298$448$298$149 ($39 first month)
Found$298$448$298$149 month to month; $99 on 12-month plan
WeightWatchers Clinic$373$373Not offered$74 (12-month plan)

Telehealth figures per each provider's website, checked October 2026 unless the pricing tool shows an earlier date. Ro lists the Zepbound KwikPen at the same price as Lilly's vial. Prices may change.

Read across any row and the pattern is clear. With a couple of exceptions, the medication column matches the TrumpRx price and the gap is the membership. At the Ro or Hims month-to-month rate, that's about $1,788 a year for the prescriber and care team at October 2026 prices, which may change.

Two rows don't follow the pattern. Shed's Zepbound starts at $349/mo for the medication alone, above Lilly's own price. WeightWatchers Clinic lists one Wegovy pill price of $299/mo rather than Novo's dose ladder, so it costs more than the TrumpRx price at the 1.5mg and 4mg doses.

At maintenance doses

Headline prices are starting-dose prices. Most people move up the dose ladder over the first few months, and both manufacturers charge more for higher doses:

  • Zepbound vial: $299 (2.5mg), $399 (5mg), then $449/mo for 7.5mg to 15mg if you refill within 45 days (LillyDirect).
  • Wegovy pill: $149 (1.5mg), $199 (4mg), $299 (9mg and 25mg) (NovoCare).
  • Foundayo: $149 (0.8mg), $149 (2.5mg, temporarily through December 31, 2026, normally $199), $199 (5.5mg, temporary, normally $299), then $299/mo at 9mg and above (at 14.5mg and 17.2mg, only if you refill within 45 days) (LillyDirect Foundayo).
  • Wegovy pen: $349/mo after the intro fills.

Add the membership and the totals climb, but at maintenance doses the gap between paths is just the membership:

PathZepbound 7.5โ€“15mgWegovy pill 9mg/25mg
TrumpRx price + your own doctor$449$299
Mochi Health ($79 membership)$528$378
Ro or Hims ($149 month to month)$598$448
Ro on 12-month prepay ($74)$523$373
WeightWatchers Clinic ($74, 12-month)$523$373

Typed totals: Lilly and Novo maintenance prices plus each program's membership, per provider websites, October 2026. Mochi Health shows higher-dose brand prices only inside the patient account, so its row assumes it passes Lilly's and Novo's ladders through. Prices may change.

When TrumpRx plus your own doctor wins

The TrumpRx route is cheapest when three things are true:

  1. You have a clinician who will prescribe. A primary care doctor, endocrinologist or obesity medicine specialist who agrees a GLP-1 is appropriate and will write the prescription.
  2. They'll manage the dose ladder. The prescribing information for Wegovy and Zepbound calls for starting at a low dose and increasing it gradually (Wegovy prescribing information), which usually means follow-up visits to check on side effects.
  3. Your insurance doesn't cover the drug but may cover the visit. Some plans exclude weight-loss drugs while still covering office visits; check your plan's formulary. Then you pay a copay for the visit and the cash price for the drug, with no monthly membership.

If you only need a refill at a stable dose, the savings stack up fast. Skipping a $149 membership for a year is real money for the same medication.

TrumpRx price + your own doctor

Pros

  • No monthly membership on top of the drug
  • Same manufacturer price that telehealth programs charge
  • Visits may be covered by insurance even when the drug isn't
  • Novo coupon works at retail pharmacies, so you can pick up locally

Cons

  • You need a doctor willing to prescribe and follow up
  • Cash price doesn't count toward your deductible
  • Zepbound price applies to the vial, which you draw up with a syringe
  • No coaching, dietitian or care-team messaging unless your practice offers it

When a telehealth program is worth the membership

The membership buys access, follow-up and convenience. It's worth paying when:

  • Your doctor won't prescribe. Some primary care practices don't prescribe GLP-1s for weight management, or have long waits. A telehealth clinician may be able to evaluate you sooner, depending on the program.
  • You want structured dose titration. Programs like Ro and Mochi Health build in check-ins as you step up, and you can message the care team about side effects.
  • You want help with insurance. Ro, Mochi Health and WeightWatchers Clinic coordinate prior authorization for brand-name GLP-1s. If coverage comes through, your copay may beat the cash price. Our insurance coverage guide walks through the odds.
  • You want coaching. WeightWatchers Clinic bundles WW's behavioral program, and Mochi Health includes dietitian access.

Membership price is the main lever here. Mochi Health's $79/mo is the lowest month-to-month membership in our comparison table, and Ro and WeightWatchers Clinic both come down to $74/mo on a 12-month commitment. If you go the prepay route, be sure you'll stick with the program for the year.

Watch-outs before you buy

Headline prices are starting doses. The $149 and $299 figures on TrumpRx apply to the lowest doses. Budget for the maintenance price, not the first month.

Zepbound's 45-day refill window. Lilly's $449 price at 7.5mg to 15mg requires refilling within 45 days. Miss it and LillyDirect lists $499 at 7.5mg and $699 at 10mg to 15mg (LillyDirect).

Novo's intro offer has an end date. The $199 intro fills for the Wegovy pen and Ozempic run through December 31, 2026, per the coupon terms (TrumpRx Wegovy). The temporary Foundayo cuts at 2.5mg and 5.5mg end the same day.

Cash spending doesn't count toward your deductible. Under the Novo coupon terms, what you pay can't be applied to your insurance deductible or out-of-pocket maximum.

Government beneficiaries are mostly shut out. The Wegovy pill offer excludes government beneficiaries, and the coupon terms bar billing Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE or VA. If you're on Medicare Part D, look at the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge instead: eligible enrollees pay a $50 monthly copay for Wegovy, Zepbound KwikPen or Foundayo from July 2026 through December 2027 (CMS; covered drugs per CMS's Bridge FAQ)).

Check your insurance copay first. TrumpRx itself tells insured patients to compare. If your plan covers Wegovy or Zepbound, a copay could be far below any cash price (TrumpRx FAQ).

Make sure the drug price isn't marked up. Not every telehealth provider passes the manufacturer price through. Eden lists brand Zepbound at $1,399/mo plus membership, and Hers has a separate Zepbound listing at $1,899/mo (Hers also offers a Zepbound vial at Lilly's price). Shed's Zepbound starts above Lilly's price too. PlushCare may cost less overall, with a $19.99/mo membership plus a $129 first visit, but its Zepbound price is based on May pricing, so ask for a quote. If a program's Zepbound or Wegovy price is well above the TrumpRx figure, ask why.

What about compounded GLP-1s?

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide aren't on TrumpRx, because TrumpRx lists only FDA-approved drugs (TrumpRx FAQ). Compounded versions contain the same active ingredients but are not FDA-approved as finished products, and the FDA has narrowed when they can be made since the shortages ended (FDA). Some telehealth programs still sell them for less than brand-name cash prices. Our compounded vs brand-name semaglutide guide covers the trade-offs, and cheapest tirzepatide online compares current prices.

The bottom line

TrumpRx doesn't make GLP-1s cheaper than the manufacturers' own programs. It shows those prices in one place and points you to where they apply. Telehealth programs like Ro, Hims and Found charge those same drug prices and add a membership for the prescriber.

So pick the path by how you'll get your prescription. If your own doctor will prescribe and follow you, the TrumpRx price with no membership is the cheapest way to get brand-name Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo. If not, a telehealth membership is the cost of access, and the cheapest one that fits your needs is usually the right call. For oral options specifically, see Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill. For a wider ranking, see our best GLP-1 providers and GLP-1 without insurance guides.

GLP-1 medications require a prescription. Talk with a licensed healthcare provider about whether one is appropriate for you, which dose to start on and how to manage side effects. Results vary, and these medications may not be right for everyone.
